Upcoming Prompts: Week of February 1st – 5th, 2021

Listed below are the writing prompts I plan to use for the upcoming week. As usual you can use them in whatever fashion you want.

As it is now the end of January I thought I’d give you a small update on The Fifteen Minute Novel Project as well. For those who aren’t reading along or missed the reasoning, a quick recap. For a while now I have been doing a writing prompt every weekday morning. It really helps me get my brain started. Even though they are all different sentences and starters I keep each year’s prompts in a file and just save it for that year. Each year I notice that despite these bing short prompts and only fifteen minutes of writing, at the end of the year I end up with a document that has more than 100K words. So this year I decided to take one prompt and make it a continuous story with each day’s writing starting from the last sentence from the day before. While I did no pre planning, I am running a notes section in a partner document as things occur to me about this story. I started this experiment January 1st, 2021. (as I only work on it during weekdays I am now officially at Day 21). It is now the end of january and while there will clearly need to be some editing at the end of the project, my current word count stands at 12,611 words.

So that is the January update.

And now for the upcoming week’s prompts.

Monday, February 1st: They were in the lobby playing cards.

Tuesday, February 2nd: It seemed the perfect hideout.

Wednesday, February 3rd: She worked with enthusiasm.

Thursday, February 4th:She suffered through personal attacks and rumors.

Friday, February 5th: He ran downstairs.

And now I al going to pretend I did not see those prompts, shake my head like and etch-a-sketch and forget about them completely until Monday. I’ll be back then to tackle the first of them. Have a great Friday and an excellent weekend.
