I can’t believe we made it to mid May already. It just seems wrong given that I had to haul a couple of sweaters out of the back of the closet this week. It is warming up a little bit but the current temps make it feel weird to think of this as mid May. It feels more like early April. But I doubt the calendar is actually lying to me so clearly I am wrong. I highly suspect that in October’s posts I will be saying it is too warm for October. The seasons seemed to have shifted on me somehow.
Despite my confusion the daily prompts continue. Personally I love doing these. Not only do they wake up my brain, but i really like have a stockpile of story starts that I can dip into whenever I want. Don’t get me wrong, quite a lot of them aren’t really worth dimming into. They are mental throat clearing at best. But mixed in are some decent thoughts, glimmers of ideas. Just this past week I cam to something that needed a description and I ended up diving into past prompts because I remembered something I cam up with sometime last year. it was the perfect scene for what I was working on. It made me feel warm and tingly. Perhaps more goodness will come from these next prompts.
Monday, May 17th: I carried the pastry gingerly until it was cool enough to eat.
Tuesday, May 18th: It was by pure accident that he discovered the key.
Wednesday, May 19th: It was something he had loved since childhood.
Thursday, May 20th His hands trembled.
Friday, May 21st: He eyed the gap in the fence.
That is an interesting mix of generic and odd detail. It should make next week fun. But for now I am going to forget that these prompts exist and come to each of them fresh in their turn. As always you can write along with me, or jumble them up to suit yourself. You can do as many or as few as you like. Either way, I’ll see you back here monday ready to write.
