Upcoming Prompts for the Week of November 1st-5th, 2021

And so another week ends. And actually another month as well. Where did October go? It didn’t slip away as fast as September. I think the cold helped with that. Of course it took so long to turn cold that I am pretty sure I am now behind on my holiday shopping. For those of you who want to remind me that we are only entering November, and not December, several of our packages need to be boxed up and shipped out to distant family and with postal delays I think it might be best to move a bit earlier than usual.

well I think that, whether or not I’ll actually put the good thought into practice remains to be seen. Still, there is no procrastination on the first writing prompts of November. Drum roll, please. Thank you.

Monday, November 1st: The first notes took me by surprise.

Tuesday, November 2nd: The vultures were circling.

Wednesday, November 3rd: He had a spring in his step that wasn’t there before.

Thursday, November 4th: The hole was getting bigger.

Friday, November 5th: It washed ashore in the night.

Don’t those look interesting? well maybe, maybe not. It all depends on the morning where they become the first line of their own stories. So we will have to see. As always they are in the order I plan to write them in. The order is completely random. There is no over arching plan or design for these prompts. They are there to wake up the brain and get it into writing mode no matter how you feel about writing at the moment. I generally find that even on days when I just don;t feel like sitting down and writing, taking the fifteen minutes to write on one of the prompts shifts my brain into writer mode enough that I can press forward. It also gives me a kind of database of characters, situations, settings and basic story ideas and scenes I can raid when I need to. Which is always nice.

But now I am going to forget they exist so that I can come to them fresh on the morning they are scheduled. I’ll see you then. Have a great Friday and a fabulous weekend.
