I can’t believe I just wrote February there. January is always strange. The days seem to drag on as I try to shake off the holidays and extra days off in November and December, but then the month seems to evaporate like ice in the sun.
I can tell you know there is a lot of ice I would like to see evaporate in the sun about now. But as it hasn’t really been above 30 degrees in the past few days I’m not really sure that is a likely prospect. It just makes the ice all shiny so you can’t look at it as you slip slide down the driveway to the mail box. Where you mostly just find a pile of soggy grocery store circulars. However my winter woes are not the reason we are here.
Writing prompts are the reason for the post. I have to say this week will be hard to beat. I managed to clean up with two characters and a couple of really good story lines I want to follow. Hopefully next week’s will be just as good. If not better. Of course even if they aren’t they will still do the job of clearing the brain and getting it ready for actual writing. Which is sort of the point. Everything else is just sort of a bonus. S what are we working with next week?
Monday, January 31st: He slogged through the mud, each step a misery.
Tuesday, February 1st: Red is definitely your color.
Wednesday, February 2nd:They all started talking at once.
Thursday, February 3rd: Music drifted down from the open window.
Friday, February 4th: The heat of the sun was a weight on top of his head.
Oh, don’t those look nice. I know, I always think that. But just look at those sentences just waiting to burst into stories. But the bursting will have to wait. For now I will turn my backs on them and only take them out one at a time next week.
For Subscribers, Chapter 4 of The Ties That Bind will be posted later today, and for everyone else the next Chapter of Tansy Moves In will post on Tuesday, February 1st. I hope everyone has a great Friday.
