Welcome once again to the Wednesday write in where we take a couple of writing exercises that focus on a specific writing topic and spend a little time with it. Today we are going to delve into one of my favorite topics, description. I think one of the reasons I really like this is because in my rough drafts I tend to skim over descriptions. I tend to skip a lot of them on my first run through a manuscript and then after I’ve gotten the entire story down, I take a breather and then return to the manuscript where I realize how little meat I put on the bones of the story and plot. It’s one of the reasons my second draft ends up being a lot longer than the first one.
