Ah Friday. It seems we have made it through another week of prompts. How’d it work out for you? I actually really liked this last set and came up with some good story starters. Thursdays was especially fun for me. Today not so much. It does make me excited to see what could be coming in the next week. Shall we take a look at the prompts we’ll be working with?
Monday, March 7th: He watched the car drive away.
Tuesday, March 8th: The pool was as reflective as a mirror.
Wednesday, March 9th: The mountains were capped with white.
Thursday, March 10th: The lid of the box was askew.
Friday, March 11th: All of the desk drawers were locked.
I’m going to try not to look at them too much as I don’t want my brain to start wiggling story ideas out of them until I sit down each morning to write. So as always I will forget them until Monday. If you feel like joining me, I would love to have you write along. Feel free to do as many or as few as you like and to shake them up in any order. The order I put them in is random. I just write them down on each day so that I don’t pull a sentence out of the odd mix of index cards I have look at it and say, no I think I want a different sentence today. Admittedly to assign them days I sat down in December with my box ‘o sentences and a day planner and put them on the days randomly, but it is different when you are in December thinking about potential writing in March than it is on the morning you plan to write. Now the sentences are already assigned so there is no point in thinking about switching them out for something “better”. And as I usually come up with the best story starts for the sentences I really wouldn’t have chosen if I had a choice, it isn’t a bad thing.
