Good morning. It seems we have run through yet another week of prompts. I don’t know about you, but this was a spectacular week for me. I ended up with several story ideas and characters that I will be adding to my story files. So many stories to write, so little time. Still eventually they will each end up written out to the full extend of my abilities and their story lines permit.
I can’t wait.
Still even when these sentence starters don’t garner story lines you want to continue or characters you want to place into different tales, they are useful for jumpstarting your mind. They wake up the brain and get you in a writing frame of mind. which is a good thing in and of themselves. If they also give you something you can use later then it is just a bonus. A good bonus, but still a bonus.
Shall we see what list we are working with next week?
Monday, March 14th: The book had a page marked with a red ribbon.
Tuesday, March 15th: The chant began, low at first and sounding like the distant sea but slowly i resolved itself into words.
Wednesday, March 16th: He recognized none of the plant species.
Thursday, March 17th: The dumpsters had large locks to prevent the bears from getting inside.
Friday, March 18th: The suitcases were already packed.
I am not going to look at those too closely lest my brain start thinking about them early. But next week each will come up in turn. I will set the timer for fifteen minutes and once the timer starts i will not stop writing until it dings. (I will run a quick spell check over them after I am done). This is not about an edited piece. This is free writing designed to just let you spill into the words. You are free to write the worst possible drivel imaginable. This is the time where you tell your inner editor to take a hike and simply fall into the story, whatever story happens to come out. I’ll be back here Monday with the first of these. I hope you’ll join me.
