Another week has passed and five writing prompts are no more. Some were good and some not so great. But they flexed the mind and got the brain working, which is their intended purpose. I really like these sentence starter writing prompts, as I’m sure you can tell . One of my favorite things about them is that by having one set up each day, it forces me to write no matter how i feel. A lot of times I simply don’t feel like writing. But I know I have a fifteen minute prompt to do so I set the timer and figure I’ll just get it done and then call it good. Somehow in the midst of writing the fifteen minute exercise, something in my brain will shift and I will be in the mood to write and can then get some work done. plus I end up with a boat load of story ideas by the end of the year. I kind of like having that cache around actually. It’s been quite helpful in many ways. So shall we take a look at the prompts that we will be using for the following week?
Monday, June 27th: It was the first time he ever tried something and failed.
Tuesday, June 28th: He felt the embarrassment keenly.
Wednesday, June 29th: The challenge was unexpected.
Thursday, June 30th: Her strategy was transparent.
Friday, July 1st: “You are in for such a surprise.”
Okay, I know I usually think that the sentences have promise, but these look like they will be quite fun to write. i can’t wait. But I will. in fact I will now pretend i haven’t seen that list at all so I don’t think about them all weekend. Whenever I do that the writing prompt turns out worse than if I never thought about it at all. So I will ignore them and hope you do the same. Have a great weekend.
