Well another week has entered the books and thirty whole writing prompts have been added to the list of completed prompts. I personally keep them in a file and when I am looking for story ideas, characters, settings and other bits I tend to mine the collection. Sometimes I will take what came out of a prompt entirely and use it to create an entire story. Other times I will just pull a sentence or two, or even just an idea. While helpful to have around, the collected writings are the product of getting my mind prepared for writing. No mater how bizy my brain is, no matter what else I feel like I might want to do, the act of sitting down and writing a prompt shoifts my brain during those fifteen minutes and gets me ready to write, no matter what I plan to write next.
The fact they they themselves can often be helpful writing bits is sort of an extra perk. Shall we see what will be used to clear the mind next week?
Monday, February 13th: His face screwed up with rage.
Tuesday, February 14th: I think we all know how this works.
Wednesday, February 15th: I want to prove myself.
Thursday, February 16th: It was yellow.
Friday, February17th: He hadn’t expected it to hurt this much.
Not a bad list. But having seen this I think it is best we all forget it was here. That way we can start fresh with the first of them on Monday. I’ll see you there.
