Writing Prompt: It is quite simple.

Happy Friday! I hope everyone is looking forward to wrapping up this week and getting a nice weekend. We are having a postponed Easter celebration this weekend so I am very much looking forward to it. But first, the morning writing prompt. Then the egg filled extravaganza. So now, we write.

That story start took a swing in a direction i didn’t intend. I started off with some one talking down to someone he felt was inferior and then that person had nefarious plans. I was not prepared for nefarious plans before coffee. I suppose that is what makes them nefarious.

Friday, April 14th: It is quite simple.

“It is quite simple,” he said slowly.  “You take this envelope down to the main office and you hand it to the person in charge.” He kept his eyes wide as though that would make his words more understandable.

Pete stared at him and slowly nodded.  The man blinked.

“Good,” he said.  He handed Pete the envelope and then handed him a five dollar bill.  Pete assumed it was payment for completing his errand.  The man made little shooing motions with his hands.

Pete turned and walked away while the guy walked back to his car.  He got in and waited, watching to see that Pete did indeed go to the main office. Pete sighed to himself and walked into the office.  He placed the envelope on the desk.

“What’s this?” The Academy’s main admin looked over at him from the filing cabinet.

“Some…” various descriptors flitted through Pete’s mind but he knew the receptionist would appreciate none of them. “Jerk,” he settled on, “In a Lamborghini wanted me to drop this off for you.  I suppose he couldn’t be bothered.” Pete left the envelope on the desk.

He had better things to do than to run errands but had been distracted by the car.  He had never seen one in real life, only in magazines and couldn’t resist the opportunity to walk past and scope it out.  He supposed it was his wide eyed study of the car that caused him to look slightly dim witted.

‘Either that or he thinks everyone around him is just simple minded.’  Pete shrugged, given the guys behavior it could have gone either way. It didn’t much matter.  He got to see the car.  He would have liked to have looked under the hood but he doubted that would have been a possibility.

‘He might not have known how to pop the hood,’ he thought.  He looked like he had someone else to do that sort of thing for him.

‘But I could just be projecting,’ Pete thought.  He smiled.  ‘Maybe I am as bad as he is.’  The thought amused him and he chuckled to himself as he cut across the academy grounds.  He wasn’t a student, hadn’t been for a  while now, but he still knew it’s way across the grounds.  They didn’t change much, hadn’t changed much since the Academy was built in the 1890s if the brochures were correct.  The inside of the buildings might contain high tech learning tools but the exterior remained the same.

He knew he still looked like he was young enough to attend which was why his presence excited no comment.  ‘As long as no one comes out and tells me to get to class I should be fine,’ he thought.  ‘Although I guess I’m not exactly in uniform.’

He had a dark blue blazer on which blended with the school uniform.  As long as no one noticed he didn’t have the school crest sewn on he would be okay.  He chose the jacket to blend.  He didn’t want to look like he was faking attendance; he just wanted not to be questioned by all.  He made it through the campus and out the other side.  This was really the best way and the ruse worked. He was now so much closer to his goal. ‘Even with the distraction.’
