The Grimm Expansion: Mother Hulda Part 16

Good afternoon one and all and welcome to another post of The Grimm Expansion. For those who are new, I am going through an older copy of The Grimm’s Fairy tales, picking stories that are just brief outlines on the page and expanding them into larger tales, filling up the gaps so to speak. I originally expected the Mother Hulda Story to take only two to three posts. But here we have arrived on post 16 for Mother Hulda and we are still going strong. I believe the original story dealt with obedience and had the classic obedience and industry equals beauty and laziness equals ugliness model. It is more of a story about developing self worth. Our Main character was bullied all of her life by her step mother and her step-sister. Now with Mother Hulda she is learning that her step mother wasn’t always right and that she does not deserve the abuse. At least that seems to be the theme that is developing.

Personally, I rather like the story. So on with Part 16
