Upcoming Prompts for the Week of May 15-19th, 2023

Another week down. This past week seemed to start mostly with dialogue. In some ways I like that. It jumps you right into the middle of a conversation. Those starts always end up giving me characters while the ones that don’t start me off with dialogue usually end up with story ideas and settings. Apparently when i first wake up my brain I can only really focus on one: character, setting or plot. I just can’t juggle all three until after some coffee and some thought. At least that is the trend I’ve noticed in my brain. I don’t know if any of you writing along have noticed anything like that, if so let me know in the comments or if you don’t want it public, use the contact button and tell me you don’t want it posted. I am always curious to see if my brain works along similar lines to everyone else’s.

But regardless we have another set of prompts coming in for next week. They might be turned into dialogue, they might not. We’ll see when we get there. For now, they stand alone.

Monday, May 15th: My patience was almost exhausted.

Tuesday, May 16th: We must adapt.

Wednesday, May 17th: Music drifted through the twilight as though welcoming the coming night.

Thursday, May 18th: She unlocked the shed.

Friday, May 19th: I’ll have a whisky on the rocks.

It actually looks like an interesting mix, not just of sentences but of different types of openings. Some I can see as dialogue, others not. However I am not staring at them too long. I don’t want the stories they will lead to starting early. And so for now, we ignore them. Have a great Friday and I’ll see you back here Monday with the first of the list.
