Morning all, let’s get ready to start the day. Deep breath and timers away…
This could get interesting. Not sure where it is going but I suspect it won’t be all rosy for Louisa for long…
Wednesday, October 11th: Sarah didn’t want to admit it was true.
Sarah didn’t want to admit it was true. It couldn’t be true. She looked into her room again. The drawers were open. They were clearly rifled through and a great deal emptier than before.
She looked back to Louisa standing in the doorway. “You did what?” she asked, certain that she misunderstood her stepsister.
Louisia smiled sweetly. “I took all of or unused things to the donation center. We had a big clear out and got rid of everything unwanted so someone else can use it. Well most of our unwanted things.” Her overly sweet smile slipped into a smirk but brightened up as her mother approached.
“You went through my things and took them?” Sarah repeated.
“Well, you weren’t here,” Louisa said. “And you really shouldn’t have skipped out on doing your part for charity. So I helped you, even though I didn’t have to.”
She looked to her mother. “You would think she’d be thanking me.”
Sarah frowned and her step-mother nodded. “You should be thanking her.: They both stood there waiting for Sarah’s response. She knew what was needed. What was expected. She knew there was only one answer that would be acceptable.
“Thank you, Louisa,” Sarah said. Louisa smirked. “Hopefully I can return the favor really soon.”
Louisa’s smirk slipped and a flicker of concern crossed her face. It was only a flicker though as Louisa was too confident in her powers to worry overly much about retribution. Dark thoughts flashed through Sarah’s mind as Louisa and Nancy moved away. Sarah closed her door and prepared to assess the damage.
‘Just clothes,’ she told herself. After the last one of Louisia’s friendly maneuvers, she took a small suitcase and filled it with anything she found important and had her best friend stash it in the bottom of her closet for safe keeping. As Louisa grew bolder with each effort, Sarah was relieved to know it was safe.
‘I’ll have to pick it up on Thursday,’ She reminded herself. She began straightening her room, taking stock of what remained. While most of her drawers were half emptied out, a couple only had one or two items remaining. The closet had only empty hangers. Sarah sighed. It’s more than a week’s worth of clothes,’ she reminded herself. ‘And I can go shopping.’
Not only did she have her savings from her after-school job but this summer she already had a job lined up. On Thursday Charles was picking her up. He worked for her grandparents and he picked her up every summer to stay with them. The trick would be to manage to keep the replacement garments away from her step-sister when she returned.
‘At least packing will be easier.’
