And here we are at the end of the week my friends. Somehow it is Friday. Somehow it feels like a day went missing. Not sure why. I usually get that feeling when there was a Monday Holiday, but we have no holidays. So maybe it is just because it has been so busy this week. Regardless, let’s jump into our last prompt of the week. Timers set and off we go.
Boy, this really was the week for mysteries wasn’t it? At least for me anyway. Although this could spill into horror I suppose.
Friday, February 23rd: Time is running out.
Time is running out. The message flashed on his computer. He looked at the words for a moment puzzled as to what they related to. He knew that he probably added them at some point as a reminder. He often did that, knowing that he needed the reminders if he wanted to get anything done. He was so bad with deadlines.
He marked them on his calendar, typing all of the details in. He always remembered the events, down to the last detail of what was required of him. He also tended to forget the dates and the times. Those were the two details he was most likely to forget. So he left messages to spring out at him and remind him that there were things that needed to be done.
Usually, he would see the message and the details of some project, event or appointment would swim up from the murky depths of his mind. This time there was nothing. His mind was a calm pool with not even a ripple to show something moving in his memory.
“I can’t be getting worse,” he thought. He saved the document he was working on and clicked on his calendar. He scanned the month. There were three main projects with deadlines this month. Two had already passed and he remembered the messages he received from them. The messages let him get the projects in on time.
He looked at the third. It was due at the end of the month. He pulled up the information, nodding as he looked over the details. He remembered the project and had in fact already been working on it. He had been thrilled that he managed to remember it without the notification and was looking forward to completing it early for a change.
The project had a notice for it and even though he was working on it, he left the reminder. When He checked, the reminder was not scheduled to be sent for another week. He frowned at the computer screen. There was nothing scheduled. Nothing that would have called a reminder.
He shook his head and closed down his calendar, shrinking it back to the task bar at the bottom of the screen. The reminder was gone from his screen. This caused another frown as he always made certain that he had to click on his reminders to remove them from the screen. He wanted to make sure he saw them or what was the point?
This one was gone. He shook his head and turned back to his project. He tried to dismiss the reminder as he looked over the details. He reread the paragraph he completed before the reminder appeared. He shifted his thoughts back to it and began typing. Three paragraphs in and he was back into the project, the reminder forgotten. He worked for an hour and then, the message returned.
Time is running out.
