Look out world I got sleep this weekend and last night and have my sassy pants on. Or at least I am not super grouchy. Don’t know why I slept well last night but I am not questioning it. So let’s jump into the morning prompt and then later see if we can cause trouble with the sassy pants. First the timers, fifteen minutes if you are playing along in the home game.
Okay I like this one. I suspect its a cop at the door and a murder going down. I may figure out the crime today. Murder goes well with lunch right?
Monday, April 8th: He waited in the car.
He waited in the car. He wondered if they realized he knew what they were up to. He doubted it. He was just the tag along. The good friend who had been a friend for years, long enough that they knew he wouldn’t go along with their schemes but liked him enough to still hang out with them.
‘Sometimes,’ He thought. He hadn’t seen Ben and Kristy in a while truth be told. In fact he almost said no when Ben called earlier and asked if he wanted to join them at a party. It had however been far too long since he had bothered letting loose and enjoying himself. While he was normally a quiet guy, every now and then he needed to let loose just like anyone. He supposed that was why he still counted them as friends.
‘Except that they got the call,’ He knew the call wasn’t expected and that it wasn’t something they wanted to explain.
“Just a quick two second stop,” Ben promised. “And then we are out of here.”
That had been ten minutes ago and he was getting tired of waiting. He looked around and realized he wasn’t too far from the bus stop. He checked the clock on his phone and realized that a bus would soon be by.
He decided he was no longer in a party mood. He got ut of the car. He knew that if he sent the text telling Ben he was leaving from the car, either he or Kristy would come out and tell him it would just be one more minute. And then he’d be waiting for at least another ten more minutes. He decided that he would text them once he was on the bus. He slipped out of the car and began walking. He sat down on the bench. From where he sat, he could see the end of the car and knew that if it moved, he could always flag them down and say he was going for a walk.
He doubted they would even see him. The bus pulled up before their car showed any signs of someone returning. He got on the bus, paid and sat down. He settled into the seat and then as the bus pulled away from the curb, he sent Ben a text.
‘Got tired of waiting in the car so I went home, maybe we can catch up some other time.’
He sent the text and then turned his phone off. If Ben replied with a just a minute text, he didn’t want to hear it. He leaned back and let thoughts of Ben and Kristy slip away.
‘I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed the party anyway,’ he told himself. They were Ben and Kristy’s friends. He went to a couple of their parties and knew them. People were always polite but he didn’t really fit in and after a few minutes he regretted coming.
‘Better this way,’ he decided. He thought about it and decided that he should probably find a different group to unwind with in the future. That he did need to find some form of relaxation was something he knew was a must for his mental health, he just didn’t think Ben and Kristy were good for his mental health either.
“At least I have tomorrow off,’ he thought. He let the bus take him most of the way and then got out at his stop and walked the rest of the way back to his apartment. Once there he put on his headset and played War games until dawn. As light crept in through the windows he decided he was through. He turned off the television and stood up, intending to go to bed. That’s when he hard the knocking on his door.
