Writing Prompt: I knew I needed guidance.

Morning all. I slept like someone hit me with a brick last night. I rarely do that and as always it leaves me feeling somewhat off balance. The insomnia I expect, a full night’s sleep, not so much. I think I was just so tired the insomnia didn’t have a chance. I’m sure it will make up for it tonight. But for now, let’s start the day with our last prompt of the week.

Interesting. Not sure where it is going, and it doesn’t feel like the beginning. It feels like a chapter two scene. But it could be fun. Just have to figure out how she got to this point.

Friday, July 12th: I knew I needed guidance.

I knew I needed guidance.  I looked at the papers spread out before me.  The kitchen table was, more properly speaking a two seater dinette table.  As the kitchen in question was more in the kitchenette range the two suited each other.  While fine for a quick mean, the table was inadequate for my paperwork and I took it to the bedroom.  The queen sized bed took up most of the small room leaving a small path to either side and enough room to open the small closet door on the wall opposite the headboard.

Currently I was sitting in the center of the bed with all of the paperwork splayed out before me. It was an odd assortment.   There were maps, bank statements, property deeds and information on investments.  At least I thought they were investments.  The columns on the graphs were labelled with odd assorted letters, some in capitals and some lower case, They reminded me of the names listed on stocks and other stock exchange related graphics.

I had managed to pair a few of the letter mash ups to actual stocks but most off those charts were still a mystery.  I was doing better with the list of wire transfers.  The problem I was having was that they went in multiple directions and through a variety of accounts.  I had named the accounts as after a while all of the numbers blurred together.  These names I had on a sheet of paper.

I was quite proud of that piece of paper even though I knew a professional would probably be more amused by it.  Needing to trace what went when and when, I made what looked like a time line.  The dates of the transfers were listed below and the bank locations were marked in boxes above. There were different colors for different items and in the end I had to buy a new set of markers.  Prior to this I had only three markers in a drawer.  There were more than three items to track.  As my three markers died out with in the first few hours of this project the large 24 pack was proving quite the useful purchase.

Having finally traced the bouncing payments, I needed to find physical locations for the objects as well as figure out what the stocks meant.  My plan had been to look at the location of the bank account to start with physical locations but as they were all over the globe, and often in places where I knew no one involved lived, that was not proving helpful.

I managed to get a few names of people to tie to the accounts and was doing well matching those locations, but others were a mystery.  ‘And then there are the other maps.’

I still hadn’t figured out why they were with the rest of the items or why they were important.  I was going to need help.  The problem was finding someone I could trust.
