Have you ever woken up completely stark awake and have no idea what woke you? No one remembers hearing any sounds but something woke me. I simply don’t come awake all at once on my own alone. That will bug me all day. For now, timers set to fifteen minutes and lets go.
All sorts of possibilities with this, I just need to figure out the main story problem first.
Thursday, October 17th: The flavor was unexpected.
The flavor was unexpected. There were dark notes that were almost bitter like dark roast coffee, yet he could tell it was not coffee. He could taste toasted almost nutty elements and a sweet, rich and buttery taste almost like caramel. He sniffed.
The scent was not much. It smelled vaguely sweet but like nothing all that interesting. He took another sip and found the flavor complex. He set the cup down even ass he rolled the liquid around his mouth. Finaly he swallowed. The after taste was more caramel than anything else.
Matthias picked up the card that came with the beverage. He ran over the details and smiled at the thoroughness and eagerness that the simple text conveyed.
When his company received the grant to explore the new planet and market what resources they found there had been teams sent out. The first teams were scientists. There were a lot of ologists in the teams. Some studied minerals and others plants. Some studied the seas and the life there while others focused on the creatures of land and air.
There were some profitable things found. Many of them came with the caveat of being more costly to extract than they were worth. He was about to conclude that he had been granted a worthless title, when Ethan came to him with his proposal. Ethan and his team were of a different bent. While there were biologists and other scientists in his group, there were also culinary experts who had worked on different teams. Ethan’s proposal was to look at and find resources that leaned primarily towards culinary.
Matthias had not been overly enthusiastic about the idea, but at that pint, he had very little to lose. He struck a deal with Ethan and expected nothing to come of it.
This box was the first shipment of items and each one came with preparation instructions as well as a list of notes. Potential allergens were noted as well as possible side effects if there were any. Matthias got the impression that not only were the scientist’s Ethan took studying things, but they were testing things on the rest of the team. He didn’t ask, because if he didn’t ask he couldn’t site any violations that such testing might involve.
While many of the items were sent to his kitchen for his cook to attempt to follow, many he would try out later, this drink seemed simple to prepare. H did so an was rewarded with the taste.
Matthias lifted the cup and took another slow sip. Again he savored it. He could see this being popular in the city where coffee houses seemed to appear every other block. He could see this being listed as an exotic offering, others began requesting. He sipped again.
