Wednesday, March 19th: Write In

It is back to the cabin for us…

Here we are, a pretty little cabin in sunlight. As always you can add a character and go from their perspective adding in their situation and how it affects the perception, but you can just focus on description of the location if you would like. Description is actually the name of this exercise.

Today however I want you to change the dial on the thermostat. We are going to write this scene two ways today. In the first description the weather is hot. That’s write, sweating standing still hot, air so thick it feels like you could take a bite out of it. The first part of this I want to see how heat turned all the way up changes this scene.

But wait, there’s more.

Once you have finished that, turn the thermostat down. Waaaaaay down. Make the scene shiver off the page. Make it cold. And show us how the location changes when the temperature does. Do you look at it a different way? Do you describe it differently? Would your characters? maybe yes, maybe no, try and see what you come up with. Happy Writing.
