Are you ready for an event? This one is a fun one with so many different aspects to it. Remember Events are great ways to add in details not only about your character as you put them in a not so every day situation, but also places where you can add some details to your location or deepen your readers view of the culture or traditions where your story takes place. And today’s even is fraught with possibilities.
Today’s Event: A feast
It can be a feast for a traditional holiday celebrated in the world where you write with traditional dishes and customs that show more of the world than you might get elsewhere (as well as providing clues your sleuth might not have found elsewhere, should you be writing a mystery). A feast is also a time where a lot of people relax. Secrets can slip, or friendly overtures made. Are there taboos in place? Are certain actions (such as sharing bread) encouraged? And of course there is the descriptive opportunity. The food, the décor, the gluttony or fasting. Songs, speeches and a whole host of possibilities to rope in all of the senses. Go wild with it and play with all of the possibilities. Happy Writing.
