Ah Monday once again. Are you ready to face down five new words and twist them into new and delightful prose? Or poetry if that is your thing. The goal is to use all five of these words in a single piece of writing. As always, I will list the words out below and then put the definitions below them. I find scanning through the definitions often sparks ideas and gets me out of my comfortable usage of the words.
Today’s Words: Balloon, Rainbow, Slippery, Aquamarine, Pepper
Balloon: noun 1.a brightly colored rubber sac that is inflated with air and then sealed at the neck, used as a children’s toy or a decoration. 2.a large bag filled with hot air or gas to make it rise in the air, typically carrying a basket for passengers. verb 1.swell out in a spherical shape; billow. 2. travel by hot-air balloon.
Rainbow: noun an arch of colors formed in the sky in certain circumstances, caused by the refraction and dispersion of the sun’s light by rain or other water droplets in the atmosphere. any display of the colors of the spectrum produced by dispersion of light. a wide range or variety of related and typically colorful things.”a rainbow of medals decorated his chest”
Slippery: adjective (of a surface or object) difficult to hold firmly or stand on because it is smooth, wet, or slimy. (of a person) evasive and unpredictable; not to be relied on. (of a word or concept) elusive in meaning because changing according to one’s point of view.
Aquamarine: noun a precious stone consisting of a light bluish-green variety of beryl. a light bluish-green color.
Pepper: noun 1.a pungent, hot-tasting powder prepared from dried and ground peppercorns, commonly used as a spice or condiment to flavor food. 2.a capsicum, especially a sweet pepper. verb 1.sprinkle or season (food) with pepper. 2. cover or fill with a liberal amount of scattered items.
