Thursday, April 3rd: Event

Events can bring out the best and worst in people, as well as show different sides to them and while I am not an sports enthusiast, they are great vehicles. Today we are going with the event known as…

A baseball game

It can be a professional game or a children’s one. It can be a scheduled and arranged one or a looser pick up game played in an abandoned lot. The baseball game gives you a chance to show people being good sports or being rampant fans, throwing all politeness to the wind. It can show a softer side of a character as they teach a small group of children to play or give insight into a less than benign character. As always the events in these exercises give us a chance to practice showing elements about a person we may not see else where or provide triggers for thoughts in a character that we might not find elsewhere. Is there a thought/memory triggered by the sound of a bat on a ball. Does the scent of the concession stand provide your sleuth with the clue to solving a mystery?

Decide your set up and who or what you want to use the scene to learn and then, as always, happy writing.
