Wednesday, April 16th: Object Description

Good morning everyone. April is proceeding and this month our Wednesday Write ins are focusing on Object description. Objects can be important to your story for providing a clue to help solve your mystery, allowing you to show the opulence or lack there of of the surroundings, or even to be used as an entre into personality. So, to the object…

As you write up your description, think about not only how it looks but the surrounding. Is this at a rich Lord’s diner party in a fantasy tale? It is at a modern dinner party where someone chose a theme? Is it used for a religious rite, a museum piece or is it the item stolen by thieves in your mystery? Let where you place it in a story influence how you describe it. The jewels could be real and the item a priceless relic, or they could be glass and used in a very tacky situation. That’s your call. Happy writing.
