Wednesday, May 21st: Food

Today, we are getting a little romantic with our food. We have shown what the simple everyday table in our world looks like. We have even shown what large family gatherings look like. However now, it is a table set for two.

This is a romantic meal.

It can be a table set for seduction. You can use it to show what foods, colors, or atmospheric details your character or world finds seductive.

It can be the first meeting of a couple put together through an arranged marriage. Their first meeting, a dinner to decide if they can go through with it.

It can be anything in between. They could be alone in a tent, in a grand ball room with servants, or in a fancy restaurant with their elders seated at tables near by. Whether blind first date or 50 year marriage celebration, it is two people at the table. (unless you decide your chaperones need to be seated there as well, but you get the picture). The point is the meal. Show us what this meal entails. The types of food, the presentation, the surrounds. Is it a candle lit dinner for two at a fine dining restaurant? Is it tacos on a park bench? A politically necessary marriage between two feuding empires? Make this romance whatever you want it to be but use the food to enrich the detail and show the culture and world in which this romance takes place.
