Oh my, we have reached the last regional setting for the month of June. This monh we took the same story idea and then set it in all sorts of different places, treating the location almost as a character and letting it alter our story. Locations have infused the story line and in some cases (at least with my version) altered it. Before we go to today’s location, lets look at the bones we started with…
Kevin sees some sort of calamity getting ready to face the place he calls home. Others either do not see it coming or think the impact will not be as dire as he believes. He has a piece of information that he believes shows he is right. No one believes him because they don’t want to believe him. So he decides to set some things in place to help everyone out.
As you recall you were able to alter them in any way that suited you as long a you kept the basics. So where is today’s locale?
Today’s region: Rainforest
Now I know some of you are automatically thinking tropical but there are actually rainforest landscapes that aren’t tropical. It is the amount of rain received and not the heat that determines the designation. You can feel free to go tropical or you could go to a more temperate rainforest climate. Perhaps you may look on a map and think about which suits you more. I won’t say much in case you d use maps to adjust your story. Just remember that this exercise is about letting place shape the story beyond the basic elements. See what changes and what stays the same. Play with it and as alwasy, happy writing.
