Good morning everyone and welcome to another Tuesday of getting in touch with our emotions. Or at least our character’s emotions. That’s right while we are focused on emption the real challenge is to work on showing instead of telling. As always the only rule to this exercise is that you can’t name the emption in your writing. And what is the emotion:
Today’s Emotion: Desperate
Oh that’s a fun one. We generally look at body language and tone as well word choice and actions but desperation can also come with a scent. I’ve heard the phrase whiff of desperation, or even the stench of desperation used before. So maybe that can add another element to your writing today as you describe someone who is desperate. What does desperation look and smell like? How does it expose itself in conversation and movement?
