Wednesday, July 16th: Object Description

I do love Wednesdays and how the topic changes each month. This month we are looking at describing religious objects (or if you are skipping religion then an object of important significance above and beyond itself). In addition to the object we are describing, we are having to describe the meaning of the object beyond it’s mere physicality. Place it in a rite or a ceremony where it’s significance is integral to the scene. Use it to draw the reader into your world. Is this item mandatory or significant only to this place. Is it highly decorative or deliberately plain. What does it represent. How is it used? and why are we looking at it now?

Today’s Object: A candle holder

Again this could be as plain or elaborate as you want it to be. It can hold a single candle providing the only light in the space for, well whatever reason you decide. It can hold a hundred candles each representing something unique. It could be somewhere in between. The details are up to you. But make it significant to what you are describing. And as always, happy writing.
