That’s right everyone it is Monday morning and this year that means it is time to stretch our vocab. Below thee are five words. Some will be familiar, others less so. The goal is to use all five in a piece of writing. I’ve put the definitions below so perhaps think about using the familiar in unfamiliar ways, or bending them to suit what you are working on. However you use them be sure to use them.
Today’s Words: Pressure, Join, Manage, Brand, Slice
Pressure: noun 1.continuous physical force exerted on or against an object by something in contact with it..the use of persuasion, influence, or intimidation to make someone do something. verb attempt to persuade or coerce (someone) into doing something.
Join: verb link; connect. noun a place or line where two or more things are connected or fastened together.
Manage: verb 1.be in charge of (a company, establishment, or undertaking); administer; run.2. succeed in surviving or in attaining one’s aims, especially against heavy odds; cope.
Brand: noun 1.a type of product manufactured by a particular company under a particular name. 2. an identifying mark burned on livestock or (formerly) criminals or slaves with a branding iron. verb 1.mark with a branding iron. 2. assign a brand name to.
Slice: noun 1.a thin, broad piece of food, such as bread, meat, or cake, cut from a larger portion. 2. a utensil with a broad, flat blade for lifting foods such as cake and fish. verb 1.cut (something, especially food) into slices. 2. Golf strike (the ball) or play (a stroke) so that the ball curves away to the right (for a left-handed player, the left), typically inadvertently.
