Monday, November 3rd: The Five Word Challenge

Good morning everyone. Are you ready to stretch those vocab muscles and put some new words into use? I’m sure they will be familiar to you but they might not be the words you typically choose. However, that is the point. The only rule to this exercise is that you have to use all five words. It can be an essay, a scene, a conversation, a limerick, or anything else. As always I will paste the definitions below so that you can see the official definition (and sometimes the archaic ones) and hopefully let it spark something in your mind. So…

Today’s Words: Challenge, Grilled, Rich, Pressure, Gill

Challenge: noun 1.a call to take part in a contest or competition, especially a duel. 2.  objection or query as to the truth of something, often with an implicit demand for proof. 3. Medicine the administration of an immunogenic or infectious agent to an animal or person, in order to study the resulting immune response or measure the efficacy of a vaccine. verb 1.invite (someone) to engage in a contest.2. dispute the truth or validity of.

Grilled: verb past tense: grilled; past participle: grilled 1.cook (something) using a grill. 2. informal subject (someone) to intense questioning or interrogation.

Rich: adjective 1.having a great deal of money or assets; wealthy. 2. plentiful; abundant.

Pressure: noun 1.continuous physical force exerted on or against an object by something in contact with it.2. the use of persuasion, influence, or intimidation to make someone do something. verb attempt to persuade or coerce (someone) into doing something.

Gill: noun

1.the paired respiratory organ of fishes and some amphibians, by which oxygen is extracted from water flowing over surfaces within or attached to the walls of the pharynx. verb 2.catch (a fish) in a gill net. 1.gut or clean (a fish).
