Happy Monday my little chickadees. It is time to write. As it is Monday we will be stretching our brains around some vocab words. Most will be words you know but the point is to think about them, use all five in the writing and to maybe think of new ways to incorporate them. Without further ado…
Today’s Words: Trained, Aggressive, Spangled, Supine, Prune
Trained: adjective having been taught a particular skill or type of behavior through practice and instruction over a period of time. (of a mental or physical faculty) having been developed and improved through instruction or practice.
Aggressive: adjective ready or likely to attack or confront; characterized by or resulting from aggression. pursuing one’s aims and interests forcefully, sometimes unduly so.
Spangled: adjective covered with spangles or other small sparkling objects or lights.
Supine: adjective 1.lying on one’s back with face upward. 2. failing to act or protest as a result of moral weakness or indolence. noun Grammar a Latin verbal noun used only in the accusative and ablative cases, especially to denote purpose (e.g., dictu in mirabile dictu “wonderful to relate”).
Prune: noun 1.a plum preserved by drying and having a black, wrinkled appearance. verb rim (a tree, shrub, or bush) by cutting away dead or overgrown branches or stems, especially to increase fruitfulness and growth. cut away (a branch or stem).reduce the extent of (something) by removing superfluous or unwanted parts.remove (superfluous or unwanted parts) from something.
