Morning everyone, I hope you are kicking off your December in a fantastic way. I just wanted to jump on here to announce some fabulous upcoming things.
First and foremost is the Annual Smashwords end of Year e-book sale. I am participating and all of my books are 50% off, which actually makes some of them free. So if you were thinking of trying some of my work out, now might be the time. And if my particular writing isn’t for you, there are literally thousands of authors participating in the sale so now is a great time to find a new read.
Personally I tend to stock up my reader in both the summer sale and the end of year sale. Oddly with very different types of books. I know you are thinking oh summer beach reads, but really in the summer I tend to purchase Science Fiction and Murder mysteries and in the winter I lean into Fantasy and Horror. I always have for some reason. No clue why.
The sale kicks off December 8th and runs through until January 1st. This is the link to the general Smashwords page (which will be the sales page once it kicks off) and here is the link specifically to my books.
This year I concentrated on releasing the Lost Princess Series Books and the Novellas from the world of the Lost Princess. The next book in the series, Drawn by Blood and Bone will be released in January. While I will be continuing that series through next year I will also be releasing a few books from pre existing series periodically throughout the year as well.
This Friday, December 5th I will be starting something fun. Each Friday, I will be posting a chapter from the book The Ties That Bind. It is the first in a never released series. The first book has fifty chapters in it and once the last chapter of the first book is out, I will just roll into the second book (It too ended up with fifty chapters in case you are wondering).
I wanted to start this at the beginning of December so not everything will start and stop on the first of January. While the member posts will be visible on the general page and you will be able to sign up for membership on those pages you can also go to the header and click on the Member’s Page (or just click on this link to the Member’s Page) to subscribe. Membership is $2 per month.
There will be other things added as well throughout the year, but I wanted to kick off with the chapters. I will post more about The Ties That Bind in a separate post so you can more easily decide if it is something you are interested in. I just wanted to put this with the announcements.
This year I put up daily posts featuring writing exercises. While there were some themes (description, emotion, events…), they were individual exercises. Next year, I am doing something different.
Each day I will be posting a daily task building towards taking the idea for a novel from idea to manuscript. The tasks will take the place of the writing exercise posts from this year. It is designed to have a single, small thing done on your novel planning each day. At first it feels like baby steps and some may want to race ahead, but it is designed not only so you can start working on you novel daily, but so that no one gets overwhelmed.
Tiny bites to eat an elephant, so to speak.
There are fifty small tasks that are the planning part and then we will shift into the writing and then editing parts, (So planning from January through early March – only weekday tasks) with the goal of having a complete manuscript by this time next year.
The tasks will be posted free in the same way as the writing exercises were. There will be examples as well in those posts and as always you can sent a comment or e-mail my way if you have questions. I will be doing the Tasks for a story as well and even putting the writing as I work through the rough draft up. Those will be in the members section as well. (the same section as the weekly chapters and the once a month $2 fee covers this as well.)
So if you are interested in participating in the Novel Writing Challenge of 2026, get your ideas ready because that will kick off January 1st. If you don’t want to write, you can also just read along.
And as always I will be continuing the daily writing Prompts and the Fifteen Minute Novel.
This was a longer post than I intended but there is a lot going on. I think it will be a lot of fun. More to come soon…
