Good morning everyone and welcome to the morning writing exercise. As you know this year we are giving Thursday over to events. These can be large or small, personal or nationwide. The point of them is to take your character out of their everyday. Perhaps it will show a side of your character that you might not have been able to show to your readers. Perhaps it is a way to spark a memory or a new thought, to get them to interact with someone who might not fit into their everyday, or even dare I say, provide a clue to solving a mystery. So when looking at the event, think about how it could be useful to you. Use an existing character or come up with a new one. Use it to show the location where your story takes place, or the social atmosphere, history or whatever you find useful. If you don’t have a use, or can’t think of one, then use it to help work on descriptions and make the reader see the event. Above all, have fun with it.
Today’s Event: A lecture
Are we in a classroom, a town square, community center, ladies lunch? Or is someone being scolded for bad behavior? All up to you. As always, happy writing.
