Monday, December 22nd: The Five Word Challenge

Good morning everyone. It is the start of a short week for me as I am heading out for the Holidays. But there is still time to stretch the brains a bit before the Christmas torpor sets in. So let’s jump into the five word challenge. As always we have five words with definitions listed below. These are by no means all of the definitions of these words, just a few little meanings to get your brains thinking of them in different ways. Our goal is to use all five of these words in one piece of writing. it can be any sort you wish, it just has to use all five words. So…

Today’s Words: Smothered, Ribald, Roost, Melt, Malleable

Smothered: adjective US English (of food) cooked in a covered container: to kill (someone) by covering their nose and mouth so that they suffocate. extinguish (a fire) by covering it. cover someone or something entirely with. make (someone) feel trapped and oppressed by acting in an overly protective or possessive manner towards them. suppress (a feeling or an action). (in sports) stop the motion of (the ball or a shot) by falling on it and covering it.

Ribald: adjective referring to sexual matters in an amusingly coarse or irreverent way.

Roost: noun a place where birds regularly settle or congregate to rest at night, or where bats congregate to rest in the day. verb (of a bird or bat) settle or congregate for rest or sleep.

Melt: verb 1.make or become liquefied by heat. 2. make or become more tender or loving. noun 1.an act or period of melting. 2. a sandwich, burger, or other dish containing or topped with melted cheese.

Malleable: adjective (of a metal or other material) able to be hammered or pressed permanently out of shape without breaking or cracking. easily influenced; pliable.
