Morning all. I hope you are busy writing away. I am pretty pleased with how my story is shaping up this far. Admittedly it is in the part I find easier. Up until about 20k the words flow pretty easily and then they slow down. It is why in my schedule I went with time and not word count. Now in an an hour of writing I can get a lot of words down. (as long as I can muzzle my interior editor) when I get to the rougher sections my word count drops low. Luckily I will have built the habit with the schedule and keep coming back to it. I know that the parts I need to slog through will require much editing later but for now, the point is to get through them. To keep showing up and putting words down on the page, no matter how few or many there are.
Task #48: Writing Challenge: Still working with character creating exercises. I find this one to be an interesting one because you get to play with your character’s imagination. But first, pick a character. Get them i your head. If it is a new character maybe get a brief sketch of them down on the page (using words instead of drawing of course, unless you want to draw them). It can be as simple as their job and the role they play in your story if you want. Once you have them, you are going to describe what they imagine to be their perfect vacation. For some, depending on genre and other factors it may not be an actual vacation as we think of it today. Instead imagine a fantasy of getting some time to let all their responsibilities go and to luxuriate in a way they might not get to do in their everyday life. It could be to go fishing without the people they need to deal with on a daily basis. It could involve sitting with a good book in a room with no one knocking on the door to interrupt them. Or it could involve a wild party in the tropics where they have no responsibilities. Tailor it to your character and your world, and delve into their imaginary vacation.
Happy writing.
