I find myself in an interesting place at the moment. Last week I had a new character appear. I really like the new character and I really like what the character does to the story. So that was a big plus. As I thought about the character over the weekend I played with my story line. For me this isn’t unusual and as I am reaching the midpoint of the book it is actually fairly typical for me to adjust at this point. In the beginning I always have so many ideas that I want to shove into a story. (I think this might be why I end up writing series books more than individual ones) the problem is that sometimes when I am planning I shove too many story ideas in. Working through things this weekend I realized I had two overlapping thoughts that needed to be separated. I’m fine with that but it did shift some things about. I did get some writing down but it added only 1029 words to the tally. I think. I did erase some things to streamline them, but then I ended up with a little over a thousand words higher on the total word count. It that makes sense.
