Upcoming Prompts for the Week of April 19th – 23rd, 2021

Welcome to the end of the week. We have successfully managed to work through another week of writing prompts. I don’t know about you but this week, I actually managed to create quite a few usable pieces. They aren’t in anyway polished or even marginally complete. Many of them are just the kernel of an idea that needs to be extracted from the flotilla of words around it. Some weeks I get nothing. But that’s okay too. The point of the writing exercises isn’t to create a story. That is just sometimes the cherry on top. The whole point is to get your brain moving into a space where you can write. No matter how much I drag my feet when writing by the time I’ve finished a writing prompt I am in the head space to actually write. Of course there are many other reasons to do the writing prompts, and I’m sure you have your favorite. Listed below are the writing prompts I’ll be using next week. They are in the order I will be doing them and I plan to write one each day. You can write as many or as few as you like. You can also write in whatever order you like. The choice is all with you.

Monday, April 19th: A number of possible routes led north.

Tuesday, April 20th: His dark looks lacked any sting.

Wednesday, April 21st: It was a neighborhood of old people.

Thursday, April 22nd: The effects were quite dramatic.

Friday, April 23rd: “You doubt my word?”

And now I am going to forget that I saw those prompts and ignore them until I start writing the first one on Monday. I hope you’ll join me then. Have a great weekend.
