The fifteen minute novel writing experiment is an attempt to write a complete (and very rough) draft of a novel by writing for fifteen minutes each day. I have taken a timed writing from one of the daily prompts done in 2021, cleaned it up a little and used it as my jumping off point into a story. Each day I will take the last line of the story written the day before and use it as my sentence starter and write for fifteen minutes, growing the story as the year progresses.
Day 244: Arkaron chuckled. ”Yes I have the same problem with him.”
Arkaron chuckled. ”Yes I have the same problem with him.” He shrugged. “It would be helpful if he was doing something nefarious when I looked in on him through less mystical ways. I don’t suppose you’ve managed to uncover what it is his goal might be?”
“I think he wants to be king,” Anya said. She shook her head remembering Lord Mathis and his dreams of absolute power. “Actually I think he wants more than that. Emperor or Supreme ruler of all the nations or something like that.”
“I thought it might be something like that,” Arkaron said. He shrugged. “ell it isn’t a detail of his nefarious plot but, I suppose it is a glimmer of a goal. I guess he wanted you to help him achieve that.”
I think so,” Anya said. “At least I can’t think of any other good reason for his actions.”
“No I doubt there are many good reasons to stave people to death in towers. But at least now I understand why he wants the run down estate. Powerful objects could be good incentive.”
Arkaron looked her over. “Well I was asked to advise, and so here is my advice. While I speak to the guild members here, you continue to learn what it is you think you need to keep learning while staying safe. You watch, I’ll watch, and when we have a better idea of how things stand we will meet again and see if we can come up with a plan with more actual steps.” He paused and looked out of the window.
“Winter is fading here, but it will be at least another month before it releases it’s grip in the mountains and at least another before travel is even possible by carriage as the melting snows will make the roads impassable. While Lord Mathis may send his hunter abroad, he will not be able to visit you until then at least. He will only travel in style with a full retinue. To do otherwise is beneath him. So we at least have a little time.”
Anya nodded. “That is nice to know. I know little of winter, and less so of the mountains and was uncertain of the time.”
Arkaron nodded. “Dovish is not known for their harsh winters in general and you sound as though you are from the warmer areas towards the coast.”
“Tyrin,” Anya told him.
“Ah,” he said. “Not quite coastal but far enough south for winter to be much more mild. Your family must be missing you. Is there a notice I could send to let them know you are safe?”
Thank you for your concern,” Anya said. “But I’m not sure it would be safe to do so.”
“Oh,” he said with a smile. “You think they are in the pay of Lord Mathis too?”
“Not exactly,” she said. She bit her lip.
“You know if I am to advise you, it might be helpful to know,” he said. “After all, how can I help you avoid dangers if I don’t know what they are?”
