And So 2025 Begins…

with a few changes.

First up we have a new Fifteen Minute Novel for 2025. That’s right we are delving into Bob vs. The Alien Slug Monsters. Originally I used this as part of my novel planning pages but I really liked the characters and some of the fun elements. I put together an outline but never got around to writing it. This is Bob’s year.

I do have my doubts about the story lasting the length of the year, even when written in 15 minute increments. Other years I had the same issue and had other stories lined up and waiting. This year, should Bob defeat the Alien Slug Monsters early, there will simply be other creatures for him to fight. I don’t know yet if this will turn out to be a simple comic book style story where this little town is where monsters randomly attack or if along the way Bob will find out there is a reason for his small town to be a target. The goal is, at the moment to simply write Bob vs. The Alien Slug Monsters. we will see what spills out by the time the year is out. My brain can some times be a twisty little place.

Because I love the fifteen minute prompts I will be continuing them. I really like that no matter what I feel like when I sit down, no matter how much I don’t feel like writing, by the time I have done my fifteen minutes, my brain is settled into a writing mode and I am ready to work on my story. So these will continue.

Also this year I am expanding the members section. Each day there will be one members only post. (Membership is $5 per month if you are interested, you can click on the Members button to join)

Mondays is the Five Word Challenge.

Tuesdays we look at Emotions. Writing them and some of the effects as well as avoiding buzz/crutch words.

Wednesday is the Write in and each month it will have a different theme. January we will be looking at location and the interplay between your character and their location (I will be putting a list of the monthly themes up, with each of the weeks in that month working on a different aspect.

Thursday will be a look at special events and using them in stories and to show different character aspects as well as different location aspects.

And Friday will be the scenario day. Each Friday a different Scenario to start you writing, even if you are stuck on your own story. (or just want to get writing and don’t know where to start).

There might be some other fun stuff added along the way. But this is the list we are starting January off with. I am quite excited actually. As always , feel free to let me know what you think either in the comments or through my contact form. Happy writing and Happy New Year!
