Monday, July 7th: The Five Word Challenge

Happy Monday everyone. It is time to stretch our vocab muscles and get some words to twist and bend. As always this exercise is fairly simple. All you have to do is write one piece of writing incorporation all five of today’s words. As always I have posted the definitions below in the hopes that seeing them might spark something in your brain (especially with some of those archaic uses). I was especially taken by smitten today.

Today’s Words: Spiky, Smitten, Rhinoceros, Spray, Conundrum

Spiky: adjective

adjective: 1.having many spikes or sharp projecting points.resembling a spike or spikes. 2.informal

easily offended or annoyed.

Smitten: verb smite past participle: smitten 1.literary strike with a firm blow.2. be strongly attracted to someone or something.

Rhinoceros: noun a large, heavily built plant-eating mammal with one or two horns on the nose and thick folded skin, native to Africa and southern Asia. All kinds have become endangered through hunting.

Spray: noun liquid that is blown or driven through the air in the form of tiny drops. verb apply (liquid) to someone or something in the form of a shower of tiny drops.

Conundrum: noun a confusing and difficult problem or question. a question asked for amusement, typically one with a pun in its answer; a riddle.
