Morning all, time for writing if you have it scheduled or a writing exercise, possibly both depending on your schedule. So without further ado…
Task #73 – Writing Exercise – Yesterday we looked at a place that was enjoying a festival. This time we are going to take the same place and look at it from a somber point of view. This is not the natural disaster or calamity we envisioned towards the beginning of the month. This is something smaller scale. This is not drought or famine, but maybe the death of a beloved community member after a long illness. Or even the failure to get a corporation to locate a manufacturing facility nearby. Make it a community wide disappointment or moment of reflection or grief. The goal is to show the town in a somber light. Does the town have the opposite of festive bunting on it’s street corners? Are people moving a little slower through the streets or looking a little more thoughtful. Is there a general recalibration going on? It is not a shocking event, just a sobering one. Show how it impacts the town and go as deep with the descriptions as you can.
As always, happy writing.
