Good morning. I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day Weekend, if you were celebrating. We have a fun discussion topic for our fictional characters today.
Task #90 – writing exercise – Have two people discussing something where each believes what they do is the only way to do something and it never crossed their mind that anyone would do anything else, yet they each do things differently. It could be something like always making certain the toilet paper comes out of the roll the same way, Some people make sure the paper comes off the top, others the bottom and a third group who simply never notices (which could also be a fun position in this discussion). Think of the things you or someone else you know does automatically the same every time with no real thought. Do you lock the door behind you as soon as you enter the house? When stepping down stairs do you automatically make certain your right foot is the one that steps off the last stair first? Pick something someone does as a habit, have someone do the opposite, or simply not really notice when the other person is adamant it must be done a certain way. It can be a heated discussion or simply an ‘it never occurred to me anyone else would do differently’ moment, which could lead to other topics. There are so many usual and not so usual daily habits we all have, pick one and have fun with it. Just remember, we are working on Dialogue this month, so get them talking.
As always, happy writing.
