The 2026 Novel Writing Challenge: My Task #91

Morning all. I hope you are doing well. Today when I was writing I caught myself skimming conversations. I realize it is something I tend to do when I am kind of in the zone. Instead of writing out the conversation as dialogue I will write a paragraph about the information learned in the conversation. It is passive writing of course and will need to be fixed. Still it tends to happen a lot in my first draft. it is usually in my first edit that I break those out into actual chunks of dialogue. I need to think about the actual words I need people to say. So I plonk down the information they learn and then circle back. I suppose I am thinking about it because we are concentrating on dialogue this month. Either way, I have marked the section (and others like it) for first run editing.
