The 2026 Novel Writing Challenge: Task #110

Yup Task #110 is still fixing the plot gaps and issues we know about. Once finished we will go into the once more reading through before we begin our next phase. For those not editing or who have finished their read through (or who are just following along to see the process) we have a writing exercise.

Today’s Writing Exercise. is prompted in part by the idea of movement and partially by the feral cats that are a menace to the neighborhood. So today we are going to think of a cat. It could be one you live with, one that lives elsewhere or just the general idea of a cat. Describe the cat. Not only its physical appearance but how it sounds, how it moves, how it behaves. Is it stalking prey in the yard, whether that prey is a bird or my tomato plants. Is it playing? Is it hungry or seeking affection? Set the cat you pictured in motion. Don’t tell us just the color of its fur or lack there of if it is hairless, make us see this cat as an individual in motion.

As always, happy writing.
