The 2026 Novel Writing Challenge: Task #123

Good morning all. We are still letting the manuscript rest but we are starting to think about it once again. Which leads us to today’s task. I know throughout the writing process we have all gathered lots of notes and information about our stories. There are things we wanted to include at the beginning, other items we had to look up along the way. There are notes in the margins and additions stuck in the back. Today we are going to look through those notes.

The reason is simple. Sometimes we get buried in the story we are telling and forget there were things we really wanted to include. So today we are going to go through those notes and read over them. Sometimes we will see that the story changed and we don’t need the notes(although don’t throw them out until the story is actually finished -trust me, just keep them until all edits are complete, then purge it can often save a lot of heartache) Sometimes we are reminded of things we really still want to add. And so today we look.

Task #123: Review all the notes generated by your story from the first idea through the bits you looked up. Make a note of anything you want to go back and add.

As always, happy writing.
