Morning all. Yesterday we went back through our notes and double checked the things we might want to add of let go. Today we are making a list of questions for ourselves to check as we go through the editing. For each of us it will be different. We all know what we want to convey, this is the list of questions we will ask ourselves as we make certain that what we wanted to show was shown.
I know some of you already have this in your head but this list will be useful when we start sending ti to others to read. Once we are finished with our edits we will choose readers who will give us different perspectives. I find that after they have read and commented having a list of questions to make sure they saw the things you hoped they would see. More on that later, but for now, make a list of the things you want your manuscript to convey.
For example if you have someone who suffered emotional abuse did you adequately convey that or are more details needed. (or too many added so it seems overburdened.) If someone is expecting something and has to fake surprise, did you give the reader enough reason to know the character wasn’t going to be surprised.
Your things to check or questions will relate to your story, but now is the time to list them.
Task #124: Make a list of things to check or questions to ask as you begin your edits of your manuscript.
As always, happy writing.
