The 2026 Novel Writing Challenge: My Task #136

As usual someone came along and sucked all the commas out of Chapter ten when I wasn’t looking. I have put them back. I am editing on paper, printing out each chapter on the editing day. Partially because I think differently when the words are on physical paper than when they are on a screen and the difference helps with editing, but also because if I only print one chapter then i am not tempted to just do a few extra chapters. While I will read and edit the entire manuscript I like to make sure each chapter is a complete thing before looking over the whole of the manuscript. I can’t use red ink though. Not because of some English class hold over but because reading my notes written in red ink tends to make my eyes cross. I am going with a bright turquoise ink for my edits. It stands out easily and doesn’t make my eyes cross. I don’t think I’d want to read a whole page of it, but it is good for editing.(Diamine Turquoise in case anyone is curious. That’s not an affiliate link btw just a reference for the curious. It also dries pretty fast which helps when I am flying through pages.)
