Morning all. Lets just jump in and see where this morning takes us. Preferably before I go to the people working outside my neighbor’s house and ask why it is that I have no water pressure in the house when there are no leaks on our property. I’m guessing it has something to do with their large equipment and the ever expanding hole. But first the writing. Timers set and off we go.
While the timed writing helps prepare my brains for writing it also calms me down. Which is a good thing as a couple of other neighbors are now in the yard and yelling. I’m guessing we aren’t the only ones without water pressure.
Tuesday, September 15th: The energy in the room was electric.
The energy in the room was electric. Alex watched from the shadows by the stairs as the event progressed. Marcus moved across the stage, face as mobile as warm clay, conveying every emotion needed to reinforce his words. He was never still. His expression moved but so did his body. Long strides across the stage when called for or small little ones if they were needed. Alex was certain her through in a few him shaking dance moves at one point. His arms likewise opened wide or drew in as needed.
It was a full body performance and despite everything, he found himself impressed by Marcus’ performance. He shot energy into the crowd firing them up. He could see their eyes light with fervor he might almost term as religious. Looking through the crowd he realized he could have pranced through the aisle naked for all the attention anyone would pay him. He was irrelevant.
Anyone who wasn’t Marcus was irrelevant.
Given Marcus’ eternal love of the spotlight he was certain that aspect had him enthralled. The fact that he no doubt made buckets of money off the merchandise as well as the recordings and the personal performance probably didn’t hurt. Marcus always wanted money for the finer things. More than that though, he wanted to be adored.
Looking out over the crowd, Alex knew Marcus found a crowd to adore him. Many of those near him were wearing pins or t-shirts with Marcus’ face and favorite catch phrase on them. Several were holding books and all had their brochure clasped in their hands.
Alex wondered if after the performance he would be asked to sign the brochures like a rockstar giving autographs.
‘Probably,’ he decided tearing his gaze away from the crowd.
He turned his attention to the stage as the lights dropped. Marcus leaned forward as though imparting knowledge only to his closest friends. A secret they most not share with others. He lowered his voice, despite the mic he wore throughout the performance and Alex watched the entire crowd lean in.
“And you can to,” Marcus said earnestly into the mic. The crowd went wild. There was cheering and the stomping of feet as though reaffirming for themselves that Marcus was right, they could to.
Alex wasn’t entirely certain what they could do as he stopped paying attention. He was certain it was some sort of change your life affirmation as that seemed to be the general gist of all the speeches Marcus gave. There was a system though.
Those who paid for the ticket to hear the speech would get the bare minimum of the system’s components. The executive level ticket holders would get the full system and the exclusive ticket holders would each had a short one on one session added to their experience so they could talk with the man himself.
Alex watched and waited. With the lights lowered, he knew Marcus could see at least some of the crowd. His gaze swept across the faces and Alex saw the exact moment Marcus saw him. Heard the small skip in his rehearsed performance before he got back to business.
