The 2026 Novel Writing Challenge: Task #203

Good morning all. This is the final task in this number sequence. We finished writing and hopefully editing the manuscript we worked all year on, hopefully sending it to readers and polishing it up in multiple rounds for new readers, edging closer to releasing it out into the wild via agent, publisher or self publishing (Or one of the many other routes available) This was a writing challenge so we won’t be getting involved in the publishing angles with it.

Once we reached the edit, read, repeat phase we started to outline for the November Novel Writing Month. For November we will be writing 50K words in thirty days and needed an outline with bullet points to get ready. Hopefully we all have that and ar ready to go into our final pre-writing task.

I will be posting my writing on the challenge every day in November (the title will be November 2026 Write In with the Day (Day 1, Day 2, all the way until 30). It will be rough writing as editing comes in December, but I am kind of excited to do the challenge and to share it with you. For those of you interested, we will be switching to thirty day challenges in December. They will be weekday challenges so five days a week instead of the seven in November. While I wanted to do the year long novel writing challenge, I am looking forward to going onto the thirty day challenges as well. But that is still to come For now we have our last pre November task…

Task #203: Look over your outline to make certain it flows and make any necessary changes. Any place you have used a generic name or term replace it with something specific. If you wrote, the town in your out line replace it with the town’s name. If you mention Bob’s brother, replace that with Frank, even if you put Bob’s brother in parenthesis. This is not just your outline for November but your cheat sheet for names and places and all the assorted other details you don’t want to take your writing time to look up. If you can, print out your outline so it is next to you while you write. Make certain any reference photos are labeled and in one place where they can be easily found. Have all the sites you may need to check while writing bookmarked to a specific folder and write the name of that folder on your outline.

In short, set up everything you will need to make writing as easy as possible throughout the month of December.

As always, happy writing.
