Good morning everyone. I hope your writing is going well. We are two thirds through the writing section of the challenge and will be writing all the way through the end of May. in April we have also had setting and description exercises. In May we will be looking at dialogue in case you were curious. But before we get there, we have the last April description exercise.
Task #83 – Writing Exercise – There are personal hobbies and then there are community ones. There are also competitive ones. Pick a hobby that has been embraced by the community in a way that has become competitive and show how this competition has affected the town.. It could be the community garden that welcomes visitors into town and is tended by a highly competitive gardening club each vying to control the new plantings. It could be personal gardens where each resident tries to out do each other. It could involve stamp collecting, or pie baking, or turtle racing or mathematical equation solving. The activity is up to you and suited to your setting. Try to pick something that might normally not be considered a competition or at least not a battle like competition, but ramp it up to the level of professional sports rivalries and have this rivalry encompass the community. Show how it started and expanded, describe the activity, the competition and how this has affected or even shaped the community in both positive and negative ways. Be as descriptive as you can be.
As always, happy writing.
