Morning all. I really feel better about my writing this morning. I figured something out that I hadn’t actually clued in. My protagonist was clued into the fact that she shifted the presentation of herself to suit other’s needs, dressing an behaving appropriately to present herself as what they wanted her to be. She left because someone was trying to kill her and in shedding those personas she was looking for a place to be herself. While all that was good, there was something missing and over the last few days I realized that I hadn’t put in the ah ha moment where she realized that some of what she believed about herself was also dictated by what other people told her. That section finally clicked in and got my character unstuck a bit. So happy dance for me now, and editing for me later when we are no longer in the writing phase. Still, happy dance today. Hope your writing is going well today as well.
