The 2026 Novel Writing Challenge: Task #104

Morning all. Yesterday we made a list of the items we needed to look for in our first post creation of a rough draft edit. This week we will be working through them. What I like to do is to start by fixing the things that I know need to be altered first. Sometimes these are sections where I know I skimmed over a conversation and need to go back and add it in. Other times it is using the find function to locate words I know I over used. There will also be things that came up later in the manuscript where I wanted to put a one or two sentence teaser of it earlier. Sometimes this can also mean turning on the grammar correct as well as the spell check and looking to see what words the computer underlines for you in red or blue.

And that is what today’s task is.

Task #104 – Go through and add/subtract or alter anything that you know needs to be altered before you begin full edits. This is not even a full read through, it is just fixing the things you know have to be fixed.

As always Happy Writing.
